Arguineguin is probably the most authentic part of Gran Canaria that you will find close to the tourist areas. At times, it may seem that time has stopped in this tiny fishing village. On one hand, they do not want tourists to ruin the picturesque scenery, but, on the other hand, they are interested in the money that tourists use – it is a bit of a balancing act. However, this has to a certain extent been obtained as part of the old Arguineguin - including the harbour and the village atmosphere – has been maintained, while also providing the area with new housing – for sale and rent. If you are interested in spending a little bit of time on Gran Canaria, you are able to rent housing here at affordable prices. A few Norwegian families live in Arguineguin due to the Norwegian school in Patalavaca.
If you want do your daily shopping or buy clothes, footwear as well as souvenirs, you have a lot of possibilities here.

There is not much beach here in Arguineguin and the sand is black, but the locals love it. If one takes a little longer against Puerto Rico, you come to Patalavaca, and this is probably one of the finest sandy beaches on Gran Canaria. The sand has sailed here from the Caribbean, and there are plenty of offers in various water sports that you can play around with. Many believe that this beach is private, but it is not, then you use it. There is also opportunity to take a walk on the artificial island located in the harbor.
This beach is artificial landscaped with 2 piers, so the water is almost always calm, a good place with kids.
If you fancy a trip on the water south of Gran Canaria, but not looking to spend a whole day at sea, the ferry from Arguineguin to Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogan is your best option. The trip takes approximately one hour, so it should not take up too much of your time. You can get off the ferry and have a walk around town and then return on the ferry later in the day.
If you have planned a trip to one of the towns mentioned above, you can get a new view of the coast by travelling on the ferry. Furthermore, the coach trip to Puerto de Mogan is not that preferable (sometimes the driving can be wild).
The first ferry departs Arguineguin at 10.40 and the last ferry returns at approximately 17.15.

Not sure what to eat? if you are getting tired of eating at a restaurant every night, whether you are here on vacation for a shorter or longer period of time, or living here permanently.
In Arguineguin you will find the solution to this question. Inside the BP gas station to the left of the kiosk, there is a place where they really do magic with food. but they have a fantastic selection of hot and cold treats, all to take home. You pay by weight and they use fresh ingredients, every day.
As the pictures show, they have a great selection of delicious salads and hot dishes, many of which are made according to local recipes, known to the locals for many years.
If you have been traveling and are a little hungry, then it is easy to stop by "asadero freiduria el dispensidor" which is located right next to the BP Arguineguin gas station and ask what you would like to sit and enjoy on the terrace when you return home . It's easy, delicious, and profitable.
If you suddenly feel like buying food to take home from there, then of course they have 3 different sizes, so if you want to buy lunch on the way around the island it couldn't be easier.
